Diveheart takes veterans with disabilities to Mermet Springs to dive

Mermet Springs in Southern Illinois is the backdrop for Diveheart Military Wounded (DMW) training Aug 11-14

Thanks to a grant from the Illinois Department of Veterans affairs, DMW was able to take Illinois veterans with disabilities from all over the state to Mermet Springs, a popular diving training location near the city of Metropolis in Southern Illinois.

The grant is tied directly to the Veterans Lottery Ticket sold through the State of Illinois Lottery.  “I’ve helped start adaptive scuba programs for veterans with disabilities all over the country and I wish all states had programs like Illinois does" said Jim Elliott Founder and President of Diveheart & DMW.    “This funding helps many veterans programs run by not for profit organizations like Diveheart all over the state of Illinois, and we wouldn't be able to serve our veterans with disabilities as effectively without it." He added.
