PRESIDENTS MESSAGE:
The challenges that come with running a totally volunteer not for
profit organization are many, and it could not be done without the help of key volunteers that are there to carry the ball when needed.
Many people contact us and want to volunteer and help Diveheart. Some have very specific tasks they want to help with and some are willing to do anything.
Some Diveheart volunteers can only help occasionally and it seems like some are at every event we do.
We need you all. And as Diveheart grows we need more of you more often..
Dan Barrett's piece this month focuses on a volunteer who has been there to carry the ball on many occasions and has helped move Diveheart to the next level.
When the ball sometimes gets dropped, it is nice to know who Diveheart can turn to.. to pick it up and advance it.
Dawn Engler is a Diveheart veteran volunteer who has been there through many changes and challenges and we would not be where we are without her and committed volunteers like her who continue to help Diveheart do great things..

Diveheart's Buoyant Force: Vice President Dawn Engler
By Dan Barrett
If you look at the Diveheart web site regularly, you see pictures of many extraordinary individuals. You see our disabled divers who conquer both mental and physical barriers to do what may seem impossible for someone in their condition. You also see our dive buddies and volunteers who help them along on the journey. Often missing, however, is the one individual who literally keeps the organization afloat. While the Diveheart spirit shines brightly in all associated with what we do, there is one person who is truly our buoyant force, as necessary as the water itself that sets our divers free of their physical bounds. This person is Diveheart Vice President (whom some have termed"Mother Scuba"
) Dawn Engler.
